Learning Reflection


I think  this course is important and different for studying but it makes me understand more than I did.Thank you in advance to Asst. Prof. Dr.Usa Noytim for teaching  English Reading Strategies and giving lots of new experiences. English reading strategies is a good course for impoving English skills.The advatages of this course makes me to know how to find the main idea in each paragraphs, speaking the words correctly, summarize the text the teacher giving, using skimming and scanning in the text, using Cambridge dictionary on website.etc    Many students read and have little or no recall. This can be due to an inability to concentrate, to a lack of prior knowledge, or because the vocabulary is too difficult. If after two rereadings the passage still confuses, then students should seek assistance from a peer or the teacher.

Extensive Reading.




On 17 November 2015, Today, The teacher taught about "Extensive Reading.'' When the class started. She gave us reading the text and did the exercises-comprehensionand comprehensionaround 15 minutes. Then I read the text, I would look at the heading of the text first and sub-heading of the paragraph. And then I previewed the article of Simply read for speed reading. After I had already read previewing, I used scanning again for keeping reading and interpretation story. I read the questions and found the answers. I think this text was easy but sometimes I didn't know the vocabularies or main idea of each paragraph, I would look at the content around the article of Simply read and open dictionary for finding the meaning. After I had done the exercises, the lecturer gave us corective feedback. Next, She gave us around 30 minutes for preparing for the test. It's time for testing.She gave us the test papers, expained how to do the test and let's start the test.
Finally, my attitudes toward this lesson is useful for all students because Benefits of Extensive Reading.
- increase reading speed
- improve reading comprehension (understanding)
- development of grammatical and vocabulary knowledge
- improvement of writing skills
- improvement of listening & speaking skills

                                  read faster (Continue ) ,The ASEAN Community 2015,Extensive reading






On 10 November 2015, Today I leaned about Read faster to Continue last week. When the class started. The lecturer gave us to discuss about Hints for reading practice as Think of the passage as a whole,Pay attention to paragraph structure, Dictionaries slow you down.



Then she gave the topic and wrote the topic on the white board that  to ASEAN Community. and open to see the video about The ASEAN Community and Watch the video and write down the words the words that you have seen and heard and Complete the information and Read the text and complete the sentences.  

After that she gave the topic and wrote the topic on the white board that  to research on English language reading. Could you write the word on the white board and then she gave us for looking at our handout and Discuss the questions with a partner. In my opinion , how useful is reading alone in developing the following language skills? and Discuss answers with a partner. I think I found difficult words, phrases and main idea. when I had problems, I will try to guess words meaning, find the reference, and summary the main idea but I cannot understand this story and find the main idea. I am going to solve the problems are reading it a few time and searching the words on dictionary.cambridge.org, and opened dictionary on my cell phone etc. If I was unfamiliar some words or some phrases and try to find the main idea, I will note them in my handout. I used skimming, scanning, finding the main idea, and checking the answers. When we had already done exercise finish, the master who gave corrective feedback for us. My attitudes toward this lesson is useful for all students. It can be applied to the other course or lesson for understanding in reading each of stories.

Read faster!


On 3 November 2015, Today I lets start to learned about Read faster!. This story is The teacher gave us to dicuss about  read faster and she gave handout for students. Then she gave the topic and wrote the topic on the white board that obstacles to faster reading. Could you write the word on the white board and then she gave us for looking at our handout and read the passage from beginning to end. Do not stop and do not go back over what you have read. Then decide whether the following statements are true or false according to the information given in the passage, Hints for reading practice.This week, I think I found difficult words and phrases. When I had a problem, I will try to guess that words but I can't. I will solve the problems are dictionary book, search for information on the internet and line dictionary on my smart phone etc. If I was unfamiliar some words or some phrases, I will note them in my notebook. I used skimming, and scanning strategies and find the reference of subject in reading. When we had already done exercise finish, the master who gave corrective feedback for us. My attitudes toward this lesson is useful for all students. It can be applied to the other course or lesson for understanding in reading each of stories and learning tip.

Classic ann Leaders


      On 27 October 2015, Today I lets start to learned about Classic ann Leaders.This story is recommendation between some people has problems and adviser. The teacher gave the handout to students,then she expand the letter on paper. When she spoke finish,we read the detail in story again. After that ,we did exercise about match each letter to Ann leader with its correct response.While I read letter ,I feel sad and pity about many problem of sander such as the wife of  Granada Hills,Calif has cancer. after that read each letter and its response again and answer the questions, read the following letter to ann Landers and give your advice to the writer.
When we had already done exercise finish, the master who gave corrective feedback for us. My attitudes toward this lesson is useful for all students. It can be applied to the other course or lesson for understanding in reading each of stories.I am going to solve the problems are reading it a few time and searching the words on dictionary.cambridge.org, and opened dictionary on my cell phone etc.

Paragraph Reading Strategies : Books and Novels




On  20 October 2015, Today I had the reading English strategies class in the morning again. The teacher taught me about " Paragraph Reading Strategies : Books" When the class started, she gave us doing the exercise- There are eight short descriptions of books and novels. Read the question and then skim the descriptions for the answeres. Work as quickly as I can. Compare my answers with other student.I think I found difficult words, phrases and main idea. when I had problems, I will try to guess words meaning, and find the reference but I cannot understand this story and find the main idea. I am going to solve the problems are reading it a few time and searching the words on dictionary.cambridge.org, and opened dictionary on my cell phone etc. If I was unfamiliar some words or some phrases and try to find the main idea, I will note them in my handout. I used skimming, scanning, finding the main idea, and checking the answers of "Paragraph Reading Strategies : Books and Novels" in reading.

On  6 October 2015,Today The lecturer taught about  west meets east. When the class started. The lecturer gave us to dicuss about West meets East and she gave handout for all students.After that she complete the sentences with the keywords in bold from the text , Discuss the questions with a partner , taught how to read the story.This week, The story is The '' Asianization'' of the United States I think I found difficult words, phrases and main idea. when I had problems, I will try to guess words meaning, find the reference, and summary the main idea but I can not understand this story and find the main idea. When we had already done exercise finish, the master who gave corrective feedback for us. My attitudes toward this lesson is useful for all students. On 22 September 2015, Today I leaned about Fashion to Continue last week. When the class started. The lecturer gave us to discuss about "The fashion" After that complete the sentences with used to plus the verb in brackets to make true statements about Yumiko, Use the prompts below and write some true sentences about yourself and talk to a partner and answer the questions. And then she gave us for looking at our handout and taught How to read the story. This week, The story is Splitting hairs I think I found difficult words and phrases when I had problems, I will try to guess words meaning, find the reference and summary I am going to solve the problems are reading it a few time, search the words on dictionary.cambridge.org, and opened dictionary on my cell phone etc. If I was unfamiliar some words or some phrases and try to find the main idea, I will note them in my handout. I used skimming, scanning, finding the main idea, and checking the answers of Splitting hairs in reading.

On 15 September 2015,Today teacher taught about Fashion.When the class started.The teacher gave us to dicuss about  Fashion and she gave handout.Then she geve the topic and wrote the topic on the white board that Fashion and told us that wrote.What are the words in association with Fashion said the teacher. Who known the words? Could you write the word on the white board and then she gave us for looking handout and taught How to read the story. How to read it the teacher say that 1. look at the picture 2. predicing the picture 3. previewing strategies which made us be easy for reading , interpretation and comprehension. And we used skimming, scanning strategies and find the reference of subject in reading. The stories of the text ,I think I found difficult words and phrases. when I had problems, I will try to guess some words but I can not. I will solve the problems are open dictionary book, search for information on the internet, line dictionary on my smart phone and http://dictionary.cambridge.org etc. If I was unfamiliar some words or some phrases, I will note them in my work-sheet.

Today's technology (Continue)






On 8 September 2015, Today the teacher gave the examination sheets for the students about A healthy diet? and the natural disasters who did an hour for taking the test.After that she said make a group to work. Group 1 to 6, Each of them picks up the topics the topics are group 1 Blogging ( part 1, 8 students) group 2 Blogging (part 2,  9 students ) group 3 Podcast (part 1, 8 students) group 4 Podcast (part 2, 9 students) group 5 Facebook ( 8 students) group 6 Search Engines (9 students) and reads the article of their topic for picking up, Discuss about it inside their groups, Take the topic's summary, Each of groups' 2 people move to other groups for talking about their topics' summary, Tell each text of them for other groups, and go to discuss about the getting topic infront of the class.How to read it the teacher say that 1. look at the picture 2. predicing the picture 3. previewing strategies which made us be easy for reading , interpretation and comprehension. And we used skimming, and scanning strategies and find the reference of subject in reading. The stories of the text. On 02 September  2015, Today I leaned about technology.The lecturer taught about words that are in association with technology and perform exercise.I did find easy about advantages and disadvantages of the Internet because it is the knowledge that exists.I think I found difficult words and phrases. when I had a problem, I will try to guess that words but I can't. I will solve the problems are dictionary book, search for information on the internet and line dictionary on my smart phone etc. If I was unfamiliar some words or some phrases, I will note them in my notebook. I used skimming, and scanning strategies and find the reference of subject in reading. This lesson for test about A healthy diet and News Stories : Natural Disasters.

News Stories : Natural Disasters ( Continue )

On 25 August 2015, today I leaned about News Stories Natural Disasters continue last week but as news story 2 about Typhoon Soudelor hits China with deaths,floods and mudslides.




News story 3 about Landslides kill 9 in Doti and Gulmi districts of Nepal.


News story 4 about Japan earthquake Tsunami hits north- east. 



News story 5 about California fires Evacuation orders given to 13,000.


After that read each news story and answer the questions that follow. Read the news story again and decide if each statement is true or false.Write unfamiliar words and find their meaning from dictionaries and vocabulary complete each sentence with the correct word.I did find easy about answering questions in the exercise because answered in story but some vocabulary I do not know.Which,I can do it and I though solve the problem. It was the story for vocabulary because some words I didn't know and about for pronouncing When, I did in correct to pronounce.My instructor did open to dictionary for listened it correct.This lesson for Advantages & Disadvantages of the Internet next lesson.

                      News Stories : Natural Disasters 








On 23 August 2015, today I leaned about News Stories : Natural Disasters. The lecturer taught about Natural Disasters and open to see the video about Tsunami in Japan. After that Teacher has command write the words that are in association with natural disaster and read each news story and answer the questions that follow.After I learned finish, Teacher assigned to do homework about Read each news story and answer the questions that follow subject Typhoon Soudelor hits China with deaths, floods and mudslides.
 I did find easy about  write the words that are in association with natural disaster because it is the knowledge that exists.  I can did it and I think solve the problem it is story for vocabulary because some words I don’t knew or about for pronounce when, I did incorrect to pronounce. My  instructor did open to dictionary for listened it correct. I attitudes towards the lesson is open dictionary and to practice. After time, I think to determine for leaned and make 
activity of my instructor.

A healthy diet  ?  ( continue )





On 11 August 2015, today I leaned about  A healthy diet continue last week.This week the teacher taught me about "westerners turn to a Japanese food diet" I found easy for the names of Japanese food but it was difficult for eating and difficult words because I didn't know how to eat Japanese food and I found easy about its the name of Japanese food. Which, I can do it and I though solve the problem. It was the story for vocabulary because some words I didn't know and about for pronouncing when, I did incorrect to pronounce .This lesson for preparing my group for presentation in front of my class next week and find the information for the next lesson.






My Diet 

I think my diet is quite healthy. I eat a lot of vegetable ,fruit and salad. I try not to eat too much junk food or unhealthy food as sandwich, chocolate, fizzy drink. For breakfast I usually eat rice with curry and orange juice and at lunchtime I eat with steamed chicken rice and water. In the evening I eat yoghurt. One thing I love is squash and one thing I never eat is dessert.

Instructor gave to read about it and answer questions about it. I did find easy about its divide healthy food and unhealthy food. Which,  I can did it and I think solve the problem. It is story for vocabulary because some words I don’t knew or about for pronounce when, I did incorrect to pronounce. My instructor did open to dictionary for listened it correct. I attitudes towards the lesson is open dictionary and to practice. After time, I think to determine for leaned and make activity of my instructor.
